WINCHENDON – Leonard Priestley, 81, of 115 North Street, died peacefully at his residence Wednesday morning, November 5th, with his family at his side.
He was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England on May 19, 1933, son of the late Clifford and Rosina (Mitson) Priestley and served two years in the Royal Air Force. He came to this country in 1965.
Len worked for 32 years for Simplex Time Recorder and retired at the age of 62 as a supervisor. An avid golfer, Len was a member of the Gardner Municipal Golf Course for 30 years and later became a member of Winchendon School Golf Club, where he played in its Senior League. Len was known as an excellent putter. Len also enjoyed bowling and had been a member of Simplex Bowling League.
Len was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and puttering around the house. He was also a soccer fan.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Jean (Murphy) Priestley; a daughter, Nicole Humphrey and her husband Tom of New Ipswich, NH; a grandson, Scott Leonard Humphrey and a step grandson, Eric Humphrey, both of New Ipswich.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate. A calling hour will precede the funeral Saturday from 10 to 11 A.M.
