WINCHENDON - Leon J. "Joe" Caouette, 76, formerly of 79 Elm Street, died peacefully in Alliance Health at Baldwinville Monday evening, May 21, 2018, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on February 11, 1942, son of the late Napoleon Joseph and Cecile Marie (Hardy) Caouette and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Joe was a graduate of Murdock High School.
Joe was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Walking was his passion and he took daily walks around the town. An avid bowler, Joe had bowled in several bowling leagues at Play Away Lanes. He also enjoyed playing the Lottery.
He leaves a brother, Henry D. Caouette and his wife Carol of Nevada and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Lea C. Soucy and Doris M. LeBlanc, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 A.M. preceding the service.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
