WINCHENDON – Leslie A. May, 82, of Winchendon, died peacefully at his residence Sunday, December 11th, with his family at his side.
He was born in Fitzwilliam, NH on July 5, 1929, son of the late Ervin C. and Anna L. (Dennison) May and moved to Winchendon as an infant, living in Winchendon for the rest of his life.
Leslie worked hard for his entire life. He had been a wood crafter at the former Brown Packaging Co in Winchendon and had been a foreman at the former Troy Blanket Mill. His other jobs included being a logger, pail turner, machinist and stone mason. He helped to build the Bell Tower at Cathedral of the Pines.
Many years, ago, he and his wife operated a vegetable stand in Winchendon. A very giving man, his passions were spending time with his family and grandkids, working in his three gardens and his blueberries.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Cecile (Rocheleau) May; a daughter, Linda A. May; three grandchildren, Sarah Monfreda and her husband Corey, Amanda King and her husband Ryan and Jessie Czekalski and her husband Adam; three great grandchildren, Adison Czekalski, Owen Czekalski and Sydney Monfreda; a brother, Raymond E. May and a sister Evelyn Slavin, as well as nephews and nieces. A brother, Rev. Warren H. May and a sister, Marion A. May, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be private and the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
