GARDNER – Leslie E. “Les” Cote, 68, of 194 Central Street, Gardner, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully at his residence, Thursday evening, November 8th, with his family at his side.

He was born in Leominster on June 25, 1944, the son of the late Oscar and Hermoine (Poirier) Cote and was raised by his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin of Lancaster.  He had lived in Winchendon for 33 years until moving to Gardner in 2009.  Les was a graduate of Nashoba High School.

Les had worked as a welder for General Electric in New York for five years and then worked for C & W for 18 years until his retirement.  He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.  Les was a member of Cornerstone Church of The Assemblies of God.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf and shooting pool.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Sandra L. (Hendrickson) Cote; a daughter Denise Yavorosky and her husband Frank of Winchendon; three grandchildren, Jonathan Blodgett, Mark Sweeney and Nicole Arroyo; four great grandchildren among whom is a great granddaughter Lila Sweeney; three brothers, Raymond Cote of Leominster, Richard Kaprasicki of Pensacola, FL and Joseph Cote of Gardner; one sister, Corinna Wertz of Florida and several nephews and nieces.  A daughter, Michelle Badeau and a sister, Jeannette Duval, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13th at 11:30 A.M.  in Cornerstone Church of The Assemblies of God, 122 Gardner Road, Winchendon.  The Rev. Barry Risto will officiate.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, will be Monday, November 12th from 6 to 8 P.M.
