Madeline B. (May) Higgins

WINCHENDON - Madeline Beatrice May Higgins, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, died peacefully Saturday morning, November 6th, in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, at the age of 96. Madeline was born in Winchendon on July 25, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Salome (Brouillette) May and was a resident of Winchendon for most of her life. She was a resident of the Baldwinville Nursing Home for the last four years. Madeline was educated in Winchendon and was an avid crocheter. She enjoyed traveling to Minneapolis and New York City, where she spent time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and by her daughter, Madeline Virginia Higgins Gordon. She leaves one brother, Nelson T. May of Winchendon; four children, George S. Higgins and his wife Bessie of Leominster, Lucille E. Atkinson of Brooklyn, NY, Charles E. Higgins and his wife Evie of Winchendon and Dana A. Higgins and his wife Carol of Ashburnham; 13 grandchildren, William and James Gordon of Las Vegas, George Higgins 3rd, Teresa Benjamin, Robert Higgins, Lisa Martin and Laurie Ledger, all of Leominster, Mary Lou Atkinson of Brooklyn, NY and Robert Atkinson of Wycoff, NJ, Shelly Greenan and Barbara Garno of Winchendon and Ronald Higgins and Jennifer LaRouche of Ashburnham; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12th at 11:30 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Friday, November 12th from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. preceding the funeral. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
