GARDNER - Malfissa A. (DiPaoli) Noponen, 95, of 195 Saunders Street, Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday evening, September 8th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Leominster, MA on August 6,1914, daughter of the late Tietro and Savina (Valeri) DiPaoli and had lived in Gardner since 1945. Malfissa worked for several years as a cafeteria worker in Mt. Wachusett Community College. Many years ago, she had worked in plastic factories in Leominster. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she had been active in its Womens Guild and sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed cooking, following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandson. Her husband, Waino E. Noponen, died in 1986. She leaves two sons, Robert E. Noponen of Gardner and Wayne E. Noponen and his wife Peggy of Windsor, CT; a grandson, Robert W. Noponen of Gardner and her dear friend and ex daughter-in-law, Charlotte M. Noponen of Winchendon. She was predeceased by of all of her brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 13th at 2 P.M. in Faith Lutheran Church, 627 Green Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
