Marilyn L. Abare
July 2, 1933 – October 11, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn L. Abare, aged 91, on October 11, 2024. A beloved sister to Robert & Norman Abare (predeceased), aunt, friend, and educator, she touched the lives of many during her remarkable journey.
Born in Winchendon, Massachusetts to Louis & Helen Abare, Marilyn dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing young minds. She spent decades as a passionate educator within the Narragansett School District and in her hometown of Winchendon, inspiring countless students with her love for learning and unwavering support. Her commitment to education was matched only by her Catholic Faith and her devotion to family, neighbors, and friends.
Marilyn found immense joy in being an aunt. She adored her nieces and nephews & their extended families—James & Ann Abare of Gardner, MA, Louis & Suz Abare of Methuen, MA, Thomas & Debbie Abare of Lunenburg, MA, Mary & Kevin Lenehan of Madison, CT, Helen & Mike Liguori of Wexford, PA, Norman & Jenna Abare of West Hartford, CT, Katie & Greg O’Connell of West Hartford, CT, Joan & Brian Marchi of Cromwell, CT, Gary Abare & Rose-Ann Abare. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in celebrating their achievements and milestones throughout their lives.
Marilyn's ability to connect with people made every encounter meaningful; she formed friendships wherever she went. Her genuine interest in others left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family would like to thank Marilyn’s personal care assistants, the Care Central VNA & Hospice Inc., and the staff and management at the Broadview Assisted Living of Winchendon. Your service and kindness was and is truly appreciated.
