KENNEBUNKPORT, ME. - Marion E. Pangborn, 84, of 242 Kings Highway, Kennebunkport and formerly of Rindge, NH, died peacefully Tuesday morning, February 21st, at her residence, with her family at her side.
She was born in Boston on June 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles S. and Isadore (Hoyt) Pangborn and retired to Kennebunkport after living for many years in Arlington and later in Rindge, NH.
Marion was a 1945 graduate of Lexington, MA High School and a 1948 graduate of Boston City Hospital Cadet Nursing School. She worked as a registered nurse and supervisor of pediatrics in Boston City Hospital for several years. Following her retirement, she was Director of Nursing at St. Monica’s Hospital in Roxbury and was later a nurse at Birchwood Nursing Home in Fitchburg. Marion enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work at various area churches. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
The last surviving member of her family, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Erving H. Pangborn, Ralph H. Pangborn, John F. Pangborn, Marjorie A Robinson, Elinor J. Pangborn, Adelaide L. Barth and Alice L. MacLeod. Raised by her sister Alice and her husband Basil MacLeod, along with their two sons, Basil Jr. and Edward, she is survived by her nephews and nieces, Basil B. MacLeod Jr of Winchendon, Edward P. MacLeod of Kennebunkport, Richard Robinson of Chester, NH, David Robinson of Milford, NH, Elizabeth “Betsy” Trimble and Deborah Ficken, both of Richmond, VA, as well as several great nephews, great nieces, great great nephews and great great nieces.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25th at 11 AM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. A gathering will be held at Rindge Historical Society, the former Hoyt Farm, 24 School Street, Rindge, NH following her funeral.
A calling hour from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday will precede the funeral.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge, NH in the spring.
