WINCHENDON - Marshall M. Martin, 92, of 335 Elmwood Road, Winchendon, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 14th in the Legend Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon on January 12,1918, the son of the late Alfred J. and Anastasia (Menard) Martin and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Marshall was a self-employed mason, owing and operating Marshall M. Martin Contracting, until his retirement in 1990. He proudly served in World War Two as a member of the United States Navy and was honored with the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon. Marshall was a member for over 60 years of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and was a member of Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW. He was also a former member of Our Lady of Fatima Council Knights of Columbus. Marshall enjoyed hunting and gardening. His wife of 67 years, Regina (Zetkowsky) Martin, died in 2005. He leaves two daughters, Brenda E. Duval and her husband Donald of Winchendon and Beverly A. Johnson and her husband Bud of Athol; two sisters, Julia Guenette of Winchendon and Anita R. Dack of Athol; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Frank J. Martin of Winchendon, who died in 1990 and Marshall A. Martin of Winchendon, who died in 1960. A memorial mass will be held Friday, March 19th at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Heart of Church Restoration Fund, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon, MA. 01475.
