RINDGE, NH - Mary A. (Jwaszewski) Kwasny, 93, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at The Respite House in Williston, Vermont.
She was born in Gardner, Mass. on December 26, 1917, the daughter of Bernard and Leonarda (Urymowicz) Jwaszewski.
Mary devoted her life to her family and her beloved husband of 72 years, John, who predeceased her on August 15, 2011.
After his retirement they enjoyed almost 30 years at their treasured home on Lake Monomonac in Rindge, N.H. that they built together themselves.
Everyone will always remember the elaborate meals of family specialties lovingly created, the family traditions kept and taught, the clothing sewn for the family, the gardens with fruits and vegetables beautifully grown and preserved, the finely done refinishing of furniture, and the solidly made building and remodeling projects for family and relatives.
All were accomplished with abundant energy and care.
She
ensured equality and fairness with all her children.
Her statements were based on facts.
Her work ethic, strength through adversities, devotion to family, and attention to detail was passed on by example.
She will be
remembered as the inspiration and teacher of self-confidence and appreciated for the time and patience to teach her family her beautiful, proficient skills of sewing, embroidery and crocheting which have been passed on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She taught a love of gardening, animals, reading, and common sense.
Besides her sister Elizabeth Michniewicz, of Gardner, Mass., her brother-in-law John Skope of Binghamton, N.Y.,
her sister-in-law Helen and husband Joseph Gemborys of Gardner, Mass. and her many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Mary leaves behind her daughter Janet and husband David DeSarno of Grand Isle, Vt., grandson Michael and wife Monique DeSarno of Essex Jct., Vt., grandson Stephen and wife Heather DeSarno of Williston, Vt., and grandson Mark DeSarno of South Burlington,Vt.;
daughter Alice Kent and partner Fred Nadich of Stuart, Fla.; daughter Marianne and husband Patrick Cashman of Gardner, Mass., and stepgrandson Shawn Cashman and wife Brenda, step-greatgrandson Justin Cashman of Templeton, Mass.;
granddaughter Alida Garrett of Otter River, Mass., and great-grandson Peter Ackley, his wife Carly, great-great grandchildren Emma, Julianna, and Connor of Douglasville, Georgia;
great-grandaughter Lillie Sheldrick and her fiance' Brad Zelny and great-great-granddaughter Alexis Zelny of Winchendon, Mass.;
great-grandchildren
Anthony, Ashley, and Samantha Garrett of Otter River, Mass.;
granddaughter Donna Zacharewicz of Gardner, Mass. and great-granddaughter Fallon Peterson and great-great-grandson Jayden Lebron of Gardner, Mass.;
daughter Rosemary and husband George Wheatley of Lawrence, Mich.;
son Thomas and wife Valinda Kwasny of Moosup, Conn.; granddaughter Angeline Kwasny of Moosup, Conn.; granddaughter Amanda and husband Zachary Morse and great-grandchildren Nicolas, Elijah, and Rebecca of Baltic, Conn.;
and granddaughter Ashli and husband Jason Hartley of Moosup, Conn.
Besides her husband John, Mary was predeceased by her parents,
her grandson John DeSarno, her granddaugher Christina Zacharewicz, her brother Joseph Ivers and his wife Frances,
her brother Frank Jwaszewski and his wife Blanche, her sister Stacia Jwaszewski, her brother-in-law Stanley Michniewicz, her brother-in-law Anthony Kwasny, brother-in-law Edward Kwasny and wife Genevieve, and brother-in-law Michael and sisters-in-law Joan and Anita Kwasny, and sister-in-law Nellie Skope.
Burial of the ashes of both John and Mary will be on September 24, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Gardner, Mass.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to the Grand Isle Rescue, P.O. Box 79, Grand Isle, Vt. 05458.
Cremation will be by the Ready Funeral Home in Burlington, VT.
Local arrangements are by Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA.
