WINCHENDON - Mary E. (Aiken) Rice, 94, of 222 Beaver Street, Keene, N.H., a former long-time resident of Winchendon, died Wednesday evening, June 10th in Westwood Care and Rehabilitation Center, Keene, on her 94th birthday. She was born in Templeton, MA. on June 10,1915, the daughter of the late Francis E. and Ellen (Ingraham) Aiken and lived in Winchendon for most of her life. Mary was a presser at New Hampshire Ball Bearings in Peterborough, NH for many years until her retirement in 1977. She enjoyed crafts and was a lover of animals. Her husband of 22 years, Gilbert L. Rice, died in 1962. She leaves two sons, Leon G. Rice and his wife Hope of Lyman, Maine and Leroy W. Rice and his wife Dawnelle of Keene, N.H.; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Mary was predeceased by two sons, Leonard C. Rice of Troy, N.H., who died in 1996 and John Rice, who died as an infant. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 18th at 11 A.M. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. The Rev. Marguerite Sheehan will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of one's choice.
