GREENFIELD - Maureen P. (Mitchell) Hall, 77, of The Arbors at Greenfield, a former long time resident of Phillipston, died Monday afternoon, January 19th in Buckley Healthcare Center, with her family at her side.
She was born in Norwell, MA on August 11, 1937, daughter of the late Millard and Ruth (Brown) Mitchell and lived in Phillipston for over 60 years until moving to Greenfield in 2007.
Maureen married Gerald L. Hall on January 1, 1954 in the Phillipston Congregational Church. The couple made their home at the Mitchell farm in Phillipston. After raising four children, Maureen worked at Valley Florists in Gardner for 12 years until her retirement. In her youth, Maureen was a soloist in the Phillipston Church choir and later involved in a number of musical events (Dollars for Scholars) and fundraisers for education and the church. For many years Maureen and her husband enjoyed making maple syrup during early Spring, a hobby that involved the entire family.
Maureen was a member of Phillipston Congregational Church and Arcana Chapter #50 Order of the Eastern Star, Greenfield. Her hobbies were designing floral arrangements, collecting antiques, Irish memorabilia and Garfield the Cat memorabilia. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Maureen was proud to have been one of the first and longest residents at the Arbors at Greenfield (8 years). She was adored by all the Arbors staff and by those who cared for her at Buckley Health Care Center during her final days.
Her husband, Gerald L. Hall, died in 1995. She leaves three children, Daniel J. Hall of Westminster, Mark E. Hall of Phillipston and Theresa L. Holmes and her husband Daniel of Greenfield, two grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Hall, two sisters-in-law, Glenna (Hall) Seaver and Elva (Hall) Fish, both of Vermont, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Patrick A. Hall, who died in 2006; two brothers, Paul Mitchell and Clifford Mitchell and two sisters, Mary (Mitchell) Cinquantini and Wilma (Mitchell) Hall.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24th at 11 AM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10 to 11 A.M. The Rev. Stephanie Flynn will officiate.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 9th at 11 A.M. in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
