GARDNER – Maurice E.M. Teir, 99, of 133 Sunrise Lane, Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 11th at his residence, with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on May 17, 1913, son of the late John E. and Helmi (Sjuls) Teir and was a resident of Gardner for most of his life. In 1931, Maurice graduated from Gardner High School.
Maurice worked as a tool and die maker for Florence Stove and Wright Line in Worcester until his retirement at the age of 75 in 1988. He was a member of Hope Lodge of Masons in Gardner for over 50 years. Active in church affairs, Maurice was a member and deacon of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church and Covenant Lutheran Church, singing in both of its choirs. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its choir up until the time of his death. He enjoyed gardening and sang in the former Straight from The Heart Chorus and Runeberg Mens Chorus for many years.
He leaves his wife of 21 years, Shirley M. (Carpenter) Sundblom Teir; a daughter, Joyce Hosford of Mashpee; stepchildren, Leonard Sundblom, Anne Marie Frawley and Ernest Sundblom; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. Maurice was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys (Thomas) Teir; a daughter, Jane Londergen; a brother, Eugene Teir and three sisters, Elin Dennis, Ann Heaton and Helen Teir.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, December 14th at 10:30 A.M. in Faith Lutheran Church, 627 Green Street, Gardner. The Rev. Richard Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery at a later date.
