TEMPLETON – Muriel G. (Kangas) Gravel, 86, of 331 State Road, Otter River died peacefully Wednesday morning, September 10th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born in Andover, VT on March 14, 1928, daughter of the late Sulo and Annie (Moore) Kangas and was educated in a one room school house. In 1942 she moved to Gardner.
Muriel had worked as a seamstress at Dosans until her retirement. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, crocheting, camping and baking. Spending time with her family gave her the greatest joy.
Her husband of 58 years, George Gravel, died in 2009. She leaves four children, Patricia G. Peissner and her husband Jan of Otter River, Susan P. Jones of Fitzwilliam, NH, Mark L. Gravel and his wife Shanehz of Gardner and Gilbert W. Gravel of Otter River; her brothers and sisters, Edward Kangas of Gardner, Martha Harrington and her husband Raleigh of Gardner, Beverly Rice of Gardner and Rosemary Kangas of Gardner; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Kangas, Walter Kangas and Ronald Kangas and two sisters, Carolyn Kendall and Dorothy Moore.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
