WINCHENDON – Nelson T. May, 92, of 47 Ash Street, Winchendon died peacefully Monday morning, September 1st at his residence, with his family at his side.

He was born in Winchendon on March 25, 1922, the son of the late Charles P. and Salome (Brouillette) May and was a graduate of Murdock High School.

Nelson proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War Two.  He was awarded the World War Two Victory Medal, AT Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and EAME Service Medal.  Nelson was a woodworker for many Gardner area furniture companies until his retirement.  An avid woodsman, he loved to cut wood and spend time with his family.  He was a former member of Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW.

His wife, Josephine (Goula) May, died in 1998.  He leaves four children, Steven A. May and his wife Loretta, Douglas N. May, Cynthia Ann Sinclair and her husband Gardner 2nd) and Theodore C. May and his wife Betty J., all of Winchendon; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Bobby May.  He was predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters, Arlene, Henry May, Rachel C. May, Elizabeth S. Gouslin, Madeline B. Higgins and Alfred May.

Military funeral services will be held Thursday, September 4th at 10 A.M. in Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Wednesday, September 3rd from 5 to 7 P.M.
