RINDGE, NH – Norma N. (Bigwood) Young, 83, of 20 Hunt Hill Road, Rindge, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 31st in Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Jaffrey, with her family at her side.
She was born in Orange, MA on May 4, 1930, one of twelve children of the late Robert E. and Bernice M. (Wilbur) Bigwood and lived in Rindge for many years.
Norma worked many years ago at Millipore, as a furniture worker at Winchendon Furniture and as a seamstress at Athol Pant Co. She was a member of West Swanzey Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved macramé, gardening, taking long rides in the country and walking.
Her husband, Elisha H. Young, whom she married July 31, 1953, died in 2009. She leaves a son, Harold J. Young of Rindge; a daughter, Loretta A. May and her husband Steven of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Steven May Jr and his wife Lilizabeth of San Jacinto, CA and Jocelyn May of Winchendon; two brothers, Edward Bigwood and Clinton Bigwood and his wife Sandra; two sisters, Althea Kenney and Doris A. Housman, as well as many nephews and nieces. Her siblings, Wilhelmina C. Stewart, Robert E. Bigwood Jr., Rose Amber Bigwood, Richard E. Bigwood, Gordon E. Bigwood, Roger W. Bigwood and William S. Bigwood, and a half brother, Tom Shearer, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25th at 2 P.M. in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1071 West Street, Gardner, MA.
Private graveside services will be held in the spring in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge.
