WINCHENDON – Norman E. LaBier, 88, of 127D Ipswich Drive, Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday morning, September 8 th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.
He was born in Nashua, NH on January 2, 1923, son of the late Ernest and Stella (Rainville) LaBier and lived in Winchendon for most of his life.
Norman worked as a carpenter for Local Union#48 in Fitchburg until his retirement in 1985. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War Two. Norman was decorated with the GC Medal, Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and the American Theatre Combat Ribbon. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW.
His wife, Lena (Radicioni) LaBier, died in 2004. He leaves two sisters, Elda S. Martin of Winchendon and Carmen M. Menard of Winchendon and several nephews and nieces, Nancy Wolski of Winchendon, Donna Harper of TN, Marriann Conforti of FL, Linda Gross of FL and Ron Cloutier of Auburn. In addition to his wife, Norman was predeceased by a sister, Rita Cloutier of FL; a brother, Roland LaBier; and 3 nephews, Raymond Cloutier of Holden, Paul Cloutier of NY and Robert Murphy Jr.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon is directing arrangements.
