WINCHENDON – Norman W. Hicks, 80, of 206 Lakeview Drive, died peacefully Saturday morning, January 9th in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in New York City, New York on May 21, 1935, son of the late William and Mary (Hyvonen) Hicks and grew up in Gardner, graduating from Gardner High School in 1953. He had lived in Winchendon for many years.
Norman worked at the former Templeton Developmental Center for many years until his retirement. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. A devoted Mason, Norman was a member and past master of Hope Lodge of Masons in Gardner and a member of Artisan Lodge of Masons in Winchendon. He had served as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.
His wife, Ruth E. (Rannikko) Hicks, died in 2013. He leaves several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Ruth Ozello and Edith Snow, also preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 20th at 11 A.M. in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner. There are no calling hours.
