It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Patricia Jane (Lord) Walter, a woman as thoughtful as she was compassionate, who left us on January 19, 2025. Born on December 23, 1945, in Winchendon, MA, Patricia carried the essence of her birthplace with her throughout her life. Known for her creative spirit, she was an independent soul whose door was always open to those in need. Patricia was a woman of many talents. Her professional life was spent working as an accomplished accountant for Dana S. Bean, Thermo Technology, and the New Hampshire Hospital Association before her retirement. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her hobbies showcased her artistic side. Whether she was in the kitchen cooking up a storm, creating intricate designs with cross stitching, or crafting warm quilts, Patricia's creativity enriched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was a beloved mother to Glenn Walter Jr. and his husband Scott Sabish, and Gary Walter, and a cherished sister to Judith Hitchings and her husband Ron, Wendy Shapiro, and Kimberly Luhtjarv, and her husband Roland. Patricia was a grandmother to five grandchildren and a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Anita (LaPointe) Lord, her husband Glenn Walter Sr., and her brother-in-law James Shapiro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the United Parish of Winchendon 39 Front Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
We invite all who knew Patricia to join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, for a calling hour from 11:00 am till 12 noon in the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, Massachusetts, 01475. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home. Her burial will be in the spring in the Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon, MAIn honor of Patricia's life, we encourage you to share your memories, stories, and photos on Patricia's memorial page. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
