WINCHENDON - Paul D. Sawyer, 77, of 80 North Street, Winchendon, died at his residence Wednesday, October 12 th .
He was born in Gardner on August 3, 1934, the son of the late Harry and Doris (Duguay) Sawyer and lived in Winchendon for most of his life.
Paul worked as an inspector for Simplex Time Recorder Co for 24 years until his retirement. He enjoyed math and trigonometry and also enjoyed remodeling his house. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 in Winchendon and Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Janet L. (Roy) Sawyer; four sons, Nathan R. Sawyer and his wife Susan of Gardner, Matthew P. Sawyer of Winchendon, Kenneth J. Sawyer of Winchendon and Andrew P. Sawyer and his wife Lisa Robichaud of Gardner; one sister, Lola P. Roy of Gardner and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17 th at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the funeral from 12 to 1 P.M. Monday in the funeral home.
