GARDNER – Paul E. Soderman, 81, of 194 Central Street, died peacefully Tuesday, May 26th in Golden Living Center, Fitchburg, with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on August 31, 1933, son of the late john and Regina (Marion) Soderman and graduated in 1951 from Gardner High School. Paul returned to Gardner 30 years ago, after serving in the military.
Paul proudly served his country for twenty years as a member of the United States Air Force, during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He later worked for eleven years at the Pentagon. After retiring he worked at Cypress Gardens operating 26 rides and also working security.
Paul was a member of Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God and the local AARP. His hobbies included walking, fishing, crafts, and doing jig saw puzzles. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family. Paul and his wife Elaine also did foster care for 15 years.
He leaves his wife, Elaine (Fuller) Soderman; five children, Brian Soderman of Hawaii, Ruby Salinda of Hawaii, Ramona Gillian and her husband James of Leesburg, FL, Michael Soderman of Georgia and Janet Soderman of Georgia; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Anderson of Gardner; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. A stepson, Steven Cloutier, a brother, Richard Soderman and a sister, Elaine Soderman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4th at 11:30 A.M. in Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God, 122 Gardner Road, Winchendon. The Rev. Barry Risto will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Wednesday, June 3rd from 5 to 7 P.M. A calling hour from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Thursday will also be held in church preceding the funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to left at the funeral to be used at the discretion of the family.
