Pauline H. Aiken, 84, died peacefully Friday, May 31, 2024, at Heywood Hospital after an illness.
Born in Gardner on April 30, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Delphis and Lena (Lambert) Desmarais. Pauline was employed as a dietary aide at Heywood Hospital until leaving to raise her family.
Pauline was a member of the Ladies Morning Bowling League at Gardner Ten Pins for many years and also enjoyed word search puzzles in her spare time. She and her husband shared many adventures together on motorcycle rides, vacations to Old Orchard Beach, and camping trips with their children. She especially looked forward to Tuesday "family night" playing Trouble with her daughters and husband; her favorite saying being "that's okay, it's only a game" even though she won the majority of the time.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Aiken; a son, Michael Aiken of Tewksbury; two daughters, Donna Watson of Gardner and Judith Vacarelo and her husband, James, of Templeton; six grandchildren, Tangela, James, Renee, Rebekah, Gabriella, and Michael; eight great grandchildren, Derek, Arieana, Kai, Ayana, Mya, Emma, Jace, and Noah; two sisters, Linda Gough and Susan Dower; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert, and sisters, Lucille, Janet, and Yvette, and son-in-law, James.
A private service and burial will be held Wednesday, June 5, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton.
Kevin J. Mack, Walter C. Taylor, and Melissa A. McQuaid, Funeral Directors.
