GARDNER – Philip A. Hildreth, 63, of Gardner, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2014 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Winchendon on January 15, 1951, the son of the late James D. and Frances A. (Harrington) Hildreth, and he attended local schools. He was employed at the GAMMA workshop program in Gardner, Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH and Shaw’s Supermarket in Leominster over the years.
Philip was a gentle man with many needs, but who never complained or asked for anything. He loved reading his Motorcycle books, dancing, bowling and his M&M’s, attending the Gardner VNA Adult Care Program, and watching the Patriots and Red Sox. He especially enjoyed participating in all activities with his loving family, who constantly doted on him.
Philip is survived by his brother, Stephen D. and his wife Ann of Hudson, MA; his aunt, Marion Witt of Cibolo, TX; his sister-in-law Betty Hildreth of Rockingham,NC; his loving Caregivers, Tina and Lane Mele and Douglas and Dale Stevens, and their families of Gardner, with whom he resided for the last 17 years; many nieces, nephews, cousins and especially his dear friends, Clifford Thompson and Sally Lajoie. Philip will not only be missed by his family, but by his many many friends.
Philip’s family also wished to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. John Harrington for his extra-ordinary love, care and concern for Philip over the years, and the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Heywood Hospital for the excellent care given to Philip.
