GARDNER – Philip G. “Scorchy” Boulay, 70, of 34 Mill Street, Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday evening, July 20 th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, following a long history of illness.
He was born in Hudson on December 16, 1940, son of the late Armand G. and Theresa (Mayes) Boulay Sr. and had lived in Gardner for 20 years.
Phil was a molder for 38 years at Norton Company in Worcester until his retirement in 2000. Phil was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy and National Guard. . Phil was an avid bowler and golfer for many years and he also enjoyed dancing. He was known to his golfing buddies as “Scorchy.” Phil was also a life member of the Amvets.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Carole M. (Touchette) Boulay; three children, Sean Boulay of Holden, Joel Boulay and his wife Samantha of Leicester and Danielle Ostrokolowicz and her husband Tim of Webster; nine adored grandchildren; eight siblings, Armand Boulay and his wife Theresa of Marlboro, Patricia MacIntosh of Bay City, TX, Linda Mason of Grafton, William Boulay and his wife Diane of Hudson, Carrie Valois and her husband Paul of Millbury, Donna Robbins of Marlboro, Debra Collard and her husband Jim of Shrewsbury and Harold Boulay and his wife Donna of Naples, FL and many loving nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Edward Boulay, James Boulay and Thomas Boulay, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, July 25 th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. preceding the funeral.
