WINCHENDON – Philip G. Cochran, 79, of 287 Front Street, died peacefully Saturday morning, September 20th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester, with his family at his side.
He was born in Winchendon on June 24, 1935, son of the late Roger W. and Olive V. (Graton) Cochran and was a 1953 graduate of Murdock High School. Following high school, Phil entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1961, Phil graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Phil worked as an engineer and was plant engineer for Simonds Industry for 35 years until his retirement. He was a former member of the Winchendon Finance Committee. Very family oriented, Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and various family activities. He also enjoyed reading.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Phyllis A. (Possiel) Cochran; two children, Michael Cochran and his wife Doris of Dighton and Kristen Bailey and her husband Mark of Winchendon; four brothers, Roger W. Cochran Jr, Paul A. Cochran, David S. Cochran and Bruce G. Cochran, all of Winchendon; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Susan Cochran and two brothers, Stephen E. Cochran and Donald Cochran, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Ralph Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, September 23rd from 5 to 7 P.M.
