RINDGE, NH – Phillip A. Knight, 70, of 52 West Main Street, died peacefully at his residence Monday evening, June 13 th , with his family at his side.
He was born in Peterborough, NH on March 27, 1941, the son of the late Ainsworth and Eva S. (Poland) Knight Sr and had lived in Rindge for most of his life.
Phil was a graduate of Murdock High School in Winchendon, MA and proudly served his country for eight years as a member of the United States Air Force. Many years ago, Phil worked for the Champaine Super Market in Peterborough and then operated the former New England Air Co. He then worked for eight years at New Hampshire Ball Bearings in Peterborough and later owned and operated the former Heat Farm in Rindge.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed all sports. He raised White Faced Hereford Cows and loved riding around in his 1958 and 1972 Corvette Stingrays. Phil was a spokesperson for Breathe New Hampshire.
His wife of 27 years, Judith A. “Pooka” (Lafreniere) Knight, died in January. He leaves two sons, Philip A. Knight and his fiancé Erin Jablonski and Ryan A. Knight and his girlfriend, Danielle Davini; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Knight; a sister, Sally J. Poikonen; a brother, Robert E. Knight Sr, all of Rindge and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Knight; three brothers, Richard F. Knight, Ainsworth Knight Jr and Dana L. Knight, and three sisters, Dorothy E. Pangborn, Phyllis T. Hoyt and Julia A. Knight.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20 th at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Rindge, NH.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, June 19 th from 6 to 8 P.M.
