TEMPLETON – Phyllis L. (Hackett) Watt, 77, of 56 Wellington Road, Templeton died peacefully Friday morning, September 14th in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.

She was born in Gardner on June 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Harold P. and Fannie (Sund) Hackett and was a lifelong resident of Templeton.  In 1953, Phyllis graduated from the former Templeton High School.

Phyllis worked for 20 years as a social worker for the State of Massachusetts until her retirement.  Prior to working for the State of Massachusetts, she worked at Barre Wool and Conant and Ball.  She was one of oldest living members of The First Church of Templeton.  Active in the Templeton community, Phyllis was a former Cub Scout den mother and was a life member of Templeton Historical Society.  She was also a member of Wonder What Club.  Several years ago, she was a member of the Templeton Women’s Softball Team and bowled in the Gardner Women’s Bowling League.

Phyllis was a motorcyclist, who enjoyed fishing and playing cards with her friends.  She enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter months and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  During World War II, she sang and tap danced for the USO.  Phyllis loved and enjoyed her little Yorkshire Terrier Caesar and was proud of her Native American heritage.

She leaves her husband of 59 years, Raymond E. Watt; two sons, Michael R. Watt and his wife Kathy of Baldwinville and Gary J. Watt and his wife Tina of Westminster; three grandchildren, Holly Watt, Andrew Watt and Stacy Watt, as well as several nephews and nieces.  A brother, Harold P. Hackett, predeceased her.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 22nd  at 10 A.M. in  The First Church of Templeton, Templeton Common.  The Reverend William Ault will officiate.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
