Rachael B. Whitney

Rachael B. Whitney, 102, of Ashburnham passed away November 23, 2023 at Wachusett Rehab in Gardner, MA.  She was born to Herman C. and Mary E. Bush in Portland, ME on April 26, 1921.  Rachael was married to the late John W. Whitney of Ashburnham.

Rachael graduated from Sargent College of Boston University becoming a Physical Therapist.  She was a 1^st Lieutenant with the Army in World War II and worked with the 97^th Hospital group in England and Germany.

In younger years she was active in the Ashburnham Community Church, enjoyed knitting, and playing cards.

She is survived by her son, John B. Whitney of Ashburnham, and daughters, Susan J. Honkala (husband Steven) of Palm Bay, FL, Linda A. Aho (husband Michael) of Westminster, and Rebecca C. Jollymore (husband William) of Fitchburg. Also, four grandchildren, Marcus R. Day of NH, Amy L. Roode of MA, Holly A. Cross of MA, and Jeffrey R. Jollymore of MA, and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 30^th at 11 am. at the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon, MA,  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.

A calling hour will be held from 10 am – 11am in the funeral home.
