Raymond w Lashua

Raymond W. Lashua, 94, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Baldwinville Nursing Home.

Born June 7, 1928 in Fitchburg to Edward and Winifred (Larocque) Lashua. For 54 years he was married to the love of his life, Louise (Leger) Lashua, who predeceased him in 2011.

Raymond was a World War II US Army Veteran, worked for the City of Fitchburg for 20 years in the Highway Department and the Fitchburg Housing Authority until his retirement in 1985. 

With the helping hands of many friends and family members, they built their homestead on Olin Avenue in Fitchburg. In this home, Ray and Louise raised a family, embraced amazing neighbors, welcomed grandchildren and always had the coffee pot on for family and friends.

Ray was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with his neighbors. He had an incredible memory that allowed him to tell stories from all phases of his life with great detail. He also had the ability to craft anything and everything making something out of nothing. Ray’s creativity and talent primarily displayed throughout his garden and home. He was a long time member of the South Fitchburg Social Club and Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed annual camping and fishing trips down the Cape.

He leaves his daughter, Cynthia Freda and husband Nicholas; Grandchildren, Ashley Rice and husband Cory, Tiffany Fibich and husband Howie, and Nicholas Freda and wife Shana; Great Grandchildren, Ava, Teagan, Camden, and Reagan. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Theodore and Victor.

Burial will be held privately at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, in Winchendon
