ATHOL – Raymond J. Bullock, 78, of 552 Hapgood Street, Athol, died peacefully Friday morning, April 19th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

He was born in Baldwinville on July 17, 1934, son of  Joseph and Sylvia (Monette) Bullock.  He grew up in Baldwinville and attended the former Templeton High School.  For 45 years, he was a resident of Athol.

Ray worked as a cook at the Walter E. Fernald School in Baldwinville for many years until his retirement in 1990.  During the Korean War, Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Ray was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.  He was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR.  He and his wife enjoyed taking daily morning drives, with a cup of coffee, around Lake Ellis and Lake Mattawa.  His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Shirley A. (Sinivuori) Bullock; two children, Rayann J. Bullock and Joseph V. Bullock of Athol; three grandchildren, Katrina, Trevor and Miranda; his siblings, Beverly Dileo of Worcester, Frederick Bullock of Baldwinville and Elaine Chevalier of Three Rivers, MA; his golden retriever Cora and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23rd at 12 Noon in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.

A calling hour will precede the funeral from 11 AM to 12 Noon Tuesday preceding the funeral service.
