GARDNER – Raymond J.R. Kittredge, 75, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Barton, VT on November 11, 1945, the son of the late Lynn and Fleurette (Morin) Kittredge and grew up in Vermont and Gardner, attending Gardner High School. Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Ray was a construction worker for many years for Local #39 for P.J. Keating Company until his retirement. He later worked as a truck driver for Maki Building Supply. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ray loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, as well as watching old westerns. He was known as “Mr. Fix It” to his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed playing games on his iPad, playing caretaker for his daughter’s chickens when needed, bringing him memories of the farms he grew up in Vermont.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Pasakinskas) Kittredge; two children, Tod Kittredge and his wife Jennifer of Athol and Heidi Hannula and her husband James of Gardner; four grandchildren, Larissa Rodriguez, Anthony Robichaud, Garrett Kittredge and Grace Taylor; a great grandchild, Evelyn Mae Robichaud, who predeceased him; his siblings, Glen Kittredge and wife Millie of Michigan, Francese Gallant and husband Joe of FL, Hector Kittredge and wife Nancy of Warren, MA and Elizabeth Vivlamore of CA; a brother in law Richard Pasakinskas and wife Judy; sister in law, Joan Anderson; two very special nieces Micheele and Debbie and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his great granddaughter, he was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy Kittredge and Gilbert Kittredge and two sisters, Kate Chase and Paula Dube.
Military funeral honors will be held Thursday, September 16th at 1 P.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. A reception will follow on the Members Side of Gardner Fraternal Order of Eagles, City Hall Avenue.
