WINCHENDON - Raymond L. Duval, 74, of 16 Duval Court, Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday morning, October 7th in Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, MA, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Winchendon on August 9, 1936, the son of the late Albert E. and Alfreda M. (Couture) Duval and lived in Winchendon for most of his life. He previously lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and East Hartford, CT. Raymond retired from Pratt & Whitney United Tech in Hartford, CT where he worked in managerial accounting for 18 years. He was a 1956 graduate of Murdock High School and was a 1966 graduate of Worcester Junior College. He proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam Era as an operating room technician in Guam, Alaska, Hawaii and Texas. Raymond was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and AARP. He enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to the beach and Las Vegas.
He leaves his lifetime partner of 42 years, Leonard J. "Jim" Bardwell of Winchendon; special aunts Leona Lefebvre of Winchendon, Hilda Fish of Westmoreland, NH, and Rita Duhaime of Keene, NH; his best friend and very special cousin Anita Harrison of Winchendon as well as several other cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11th from Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, October 10th from 6 to 8 P.M. Members of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion will conduct a Legion Service at 7 P.M.
