WINCHENDON – Raymond L. Jean, 83, of 109 Park Street, died peacefully Saturday evening, March 9, 2019 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on April 25, 1935, son of the late Joseph G. and Marie Anne (LeBlanc) Jean and had lived in Winchendon for many years.
Ray had worked as a television repairman for many years. He had also worked at Mason and Parker and Winchendon Furniture in earlier years.
Ray enjoyed golfing, gardening and canoeing. He had been a member of Birch Hill Paddlers and was a former president of Winchendon Rod and Gun Club.
His wife, Rose Marie (Grasmuck) Jean, died 40 years ago. He leaves four children, Kevin D. Jean and his wife Marsha of Winchendon, Karan D. Barry and her husband Keven of Royalston, Kristine D. Severy and her husband Gary of Gardner and Karla D. Basso and her husband Todd of Baldwinville; two sisters Doris Geyster of Templeton and Gloria Wharton of Fitzwilliam, NH; his longtime companion Mae E. Joy of Winchendon and her two children, Leslie A. Joy and Lester H. Joy of Gardner; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Jean, Louis Jean, Norma Jean and Jeannette Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. preceding the mass.
