RINDGE, NH – Raymond M. “Monty” Lashua, 76, of 110 Middle Winchendon Road, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 22nd at his residence.

He was born in Fitchburg on July 9, 1937, son of the late Raymond L. and Veronica (Montgomery) Lashua and graduated in 1956 from Fitchburg High School, where he was an outstanding athlete.  Monty proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958.

Monty worked for Local#39 Laborer’s Union until a life changing event left him paralyzed after a diving accident, causing disability at an early age.  Despite daily challenges, Monty mad the best out of life and enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and time with family and friends.  Cribbage became a passion in the last couple of years.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Janice (Mitchell) Lashua; a son, Raymond Scott Lashua and wife Denise of Greenville, NH; a grandson, Michael Raymond Lashua of Ashburnham; his sisters and brother, Ronalee Hietala of Rindge, Jack Lashua and his wife Chris of Enumclaw, WA, Jill Dansereau and husband Richie of Chesapeake, VA and Larry Bozzotto and wife Kathy of Leominster and several nieces and nephews.  A son, Michael Montgomery Lashua, preceded him in death in 1990.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. Kwiecien Ilona will officiate.

Burial, with military honors, will follow in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Ashburnham.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, June 26th from 10 to 11 A.M. preceding the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Rindge Fire Fighters Association, PO Box 531, Rindge, NH 03461, who have provided the family help on many occasions.
