Richard Bednarczyk

WINCHENDON – Richard “Big Rich” Bednarczyk, 53, of 712 River Street, died Thursday, August 14th.

He was born in Pittsfield, MA on April 26, 1961, son of the late Stephen Bednarczyk.  He was raised by his mother, Mary (Lyon) Leab of Cheshire and his stepfather, the late Philip Leab and grew up in Cheshire, where he attended Hoosac Valley High School.  For the last five years, Rich was a resident of Winchendon.

Rich worked for over twenty years at Wachusett Precast, Inc in Sterling, where he was a foreman.  He loved to work at his job and also enjoyed outdoor activities.  He loved animals and especially treasured spending time with his family.  While growing up, he worked at several farms in Cheshire.

In addition to his mother, he leaves his wife and companion of 27 years, Dawn M. (Filkins) Bednarczyk; four children, Richard Bednarczyk Jr, Richelle Bednarczyk, John Tyler Bednarczyk and James Bednarczyk, all of Winchendon; his mother, Mary (Lyon) Leab of Cheshire; his brothers and sisters, Deborah Dion of Adams, Stephen Bednarczyk of Adams, Edward Bednarczyk of Ashburnham, Donna McMahon of Adams and Diane Burdick of Cheshire; a granddaughter, Khloe Bednarczyk and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, August 19th at 5 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 19th from 3 to 5 P.M. preceding the funeral.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bednarczyk Children Education Fund, care of Athol Savings Bank, 112 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
