Richard C. Thaler Jr.

September 13, 1970 — March 9, 2024

New Ipswich

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard C. Thaler Jr., known to loved ones as Rick, on March 9, 2024. Born on September 13, 1970, in Gardner, MA, Richard was a loving son, a devoted partner, and an admired friend. He spent his childhood in Templeton, MA, and later lived in Somerville and Cambridge before finally setting down roots in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. A man of many talents, Richard was a gifted guitar player, a smart salesman and a humble individual who valued the small joys of life.

As a child and young adult, Richard traveled extensively across the United States with his family and friends.  He had a happy childhood spending his youth camping, scouting and playing sports.  A 1988 graduate of Narragansett High School in Baldwinville, MA, he attended the University of Amherst with an interest in Landscape Architecture.  Richard later studied at the Gemological Institute of America and began a successful career in jewelry sales. He worked at Kay Jewelers and achieved great success in Diamond and Watch Sales at Decenza Diamonds in Boston.

Richard's love for music was evident in his passion for playing the guitar and his admiration for Jimi Hendrix, Elvis and The Beatles.  Above all, what mattered most to Richard were his loving girlfriend of 30 years, Lori Laperriere, his parents Richard Sr. and Martha Thaler, and a number of cousins.

Richard leaves behind his cherished life partner, Lori Laperriere, his adoring father, Richard Sr., and his loving mother, Martha Thaler; his
maternal aunt, Kathy Salem . His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, but his gentle spirit and love for life will continue to inspire us. We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Richard on his memorial page, keeping his memory alive in our hearts.
