WINCHENDON – Richard F. Mitchell Sr., 76, of 390 Maple Street, died peacefully Monday, July 27th at his residence.
He was born in Winchendon on September 1, 1938, son of the late Clarence and Madeline (Williams) Mitchell. Dick grew up in Winchendon, where he lived his entire life. He was a graduate of Murdock High School.
Dick worked as a print setter for various companies and retired from Merrill Co. in Watertown. His hobbies were reading and spending time with his family. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
His wife of 44 years, Marjorie M. (White) Mitchell, died in 2003. He leaves two children, Catherine A. Desmarais and her husband Mark of Winchendon and Richard F. Mitchell Jr. and his wife Christine of Stratford, CT; five grandchildren, Seth Desmarais, Danielle Antonellis, Megan Desmarais, Aaron Mitchell and Juliette Hunter; three great grandchildren, Evelyn Desmarais, Logan Desmarais and Alyson Antonellis. He was preceded in death by a son, Marc W. Mitchell, who died in 1977 and a brother, Robert Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 31st at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Thursday, July 30th from 5 to 7 P.M.
