WINCHENDON - Richard G. McDonald, 74, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Friday afternoon, May 21st in Baldwinville Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon on December 7, 1935, the son of the late Richard F. and Alice V. (Lafortune) McDonald and lived in Winchendon for most of his life. Dick was a sales representative for Fitchburg Paper Company for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a 1953 graduate of Murdock High School and lived in Winchendon until 1991 when he moved to Wells, Maine. He returned to this area in January of this year. Dick proudly served in the Marine Corps as from 1953 to 1956. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Dick was an avid golfer. He leaves four children, Michael G. McDonald and his wife Mary of Winchendon, Shawne M. McDonald of Gardner, Erin B. Sawyer of Winchester, VA and Brendan McDonald and his wife Jane of Gardner; five grandchildren, Nicholas McDonald, Sarah Homon, Edye Sawyer, Brayden McDonald and Brooklyn McDonald; a brother, Kevin McDonald of Fitchburg, a sister, Edith Thomason of Florida; a half sister, Susan Antonellis of Winchendon; his former wife, Carol (Patria) McDonald of Winchendon and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25th at 12 Noon in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, May 25th from 11 AM to Noon before the funeral.
