GARDNER – Richard J. Drapeau, Sr, 69, of 105 Washington Street, Gardner, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Friday morning, October 7 th , in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
Dick had worked as a fire fighter for the Town on Winchendon for 15 years and as a pyrotechnician for Atlas Fireworks for over 40 years. Several years ago, he worked at Bellecraft Woodworking Co. and Temple Stuart Furniture Company. Dick was a practical joker and enjoyed woodworking and tinkering on his automobile.
He is survived by six sons, Richard J. Drapeau, Jr. of Rindge, NH, Robert P. Drapeau, Sr. of Gardner, Ronnie Drapeau of Jaffrey, NH, Ralph J. Drapeau of Jaffrey, NH, John J. Drapeau of Gardner and Michael R. Drapeau of Gardner; two stepsons, Joseph L. Bond of Royalston and David A. Bond of Templeton; one brother, William Drapeau and his wife Nancy of Haverhill; 15 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. A sister, Mary French and three brothers, Gary Drapeau, David Drapeau and Ralph Drapeau, predeceased him.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 11 th from 6 to 8 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Private graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.
