Richard L. LaVigne, Jr.

WINCHENDON - Richard L. LaVigne, Jr., 54, of 239 Main Street Apt. 5, Winchendon, died unexpectedly at home Monday, October 13th. He was born in Winchendon on July 20,1954 and was a 1972 graduate of Murdock High School, where he was a member of its undefeated High School Football Team, and played the position of nose guard. The football squad and its members were later inducted into the Murdock High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Rick was a professional flooring installer for most of his life, and had owned and operated a flooring business, LaVigne's Flooring Center in Gardner. For the last seven years, he worked at Boutwell Owens & Co. in Fitchburg, where he was recently promoted to the position of lead mechanic in his department. Rick was active with the Murdock High School Boosters for many years and was a former Cub Scout leader and Little League Coach. He enjoyed fishing and yard work. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Susan J. (DeMaura) LaVigne; a son, Adam R. LaVigne and his wife Sadie J. of Winchendon; his father, Richard L. Lavigne, Sr. of Athol; his mother, Shirley Dunchus of Baldwinville; a brother, Randy Lavigne and his wife Kathy of Seabrook, NH; a brother-in-law, Bob DeMaura and his wife Donna of Peterborough, NH; six nephews, two nieces and two great nieces. A daughter, Melinda A. "Mindy" LaVigne, died in 1996. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17th at 10 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, October 16th from 6 to 8 P.M.
