WINCHENDON – Richard M. Dragon, 74, of 92 Ipswich Drive, died Wednesday, April 29th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after a sudden illness.
He was born in Gardner on May 1, 1940, son of the late Joseph and Doris (Fontaine) Dragon and lived in Winchendon for many years.
Richard did maintenance work at Winchendon Rural Housing and Narragansett Regional High School, Baldwinville until his retirement. In earlier years, he worked as a machinist. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Gardner. He had a passionate interest in old cars and hot rods and attended many car shows. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He leaves two daughters, Michele D. McDonough and her husband Richard of Royalston and Nicole R. Waid and her husband David of Winchendon; two brothers, Ronald Dragon of Gardner and David Dragon of Gardner; six grandchildren, Molly Normandin, Allison Normandin, Timothy Normandin, Jack Normandin, Derek Waid and Caitlin Waid; one great grandson, Hunter Vaillette and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Shirley Boone, preceded him in death.
A private funeral service will be held in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Burial will be in Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner.
