PHILLIPSTON – Richard P. Geyster, 72, of 580 Queen Lake Road, died peacefully Wednesday evening, September 9th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, with his family at his side.
He was born in Templeton on April 3, 1943, son of the late John J. and Mabel H. (Sund) Geyster and had lived in Phillipston since 1998. Rich grew up in Baldwinville and was a 1961 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School.
From 1959 to 1984, Rich worked as a produce manager for numerous grocery stores in this general area. Until his retirement, Rick worked for 19 years for the State of Massachusetts Bureau and Fire Control and Parks and Recreation Department. A former member of Otter River Sportsman’s Club and Pulaski Guards of Baldwinville, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and following NASCAR. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Joyce (Desmarais) Geyster; three children, Suzanne M. Geyster and her husband Stanley Rogalski of Baldwinville, Wendy A. Stevens and her husband Richard C. of Barre and Rick Geyster and his wife Ann-Marie of Phillipston; a sister, Christine Lafalam and her husband Francis of Baldwinville; two brothers, Thomas Geyster and his wife Francine of Ludlow and James Geyster of Baldwinville; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Mason and her husband Tyler, Ashley Martin, Jillian Geyster, Samantha Geyster, Jordan Geyster, Joshua Geyster and Jacob Geyster; four stepgrandchildren, Ashley Stevens, Jessica Stevens, Caitlin Stevens and Samuel Stevens and many nieces and nephews. A brother, John Geyster Jr. preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be private and the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.
There are no calling hours.
