Richard S. Paine

TEMPLETON - Richard S. Paine, 70, of 694B Baldwinville Road, Baldwinville, retired Templeton Fire Chief and community servant, died unexpectedly at his residence Sunday morning, December 21st. He was born in Gardner on January 8,1938, the son of the late Wallace B. and Mildred (Stevens) Paine and had lived in Baldwinville all of his life. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Templeton High School and a 1959 graduate of Worcester Trade Auto Body. He served honorably in the National Guard from 1960 to 1965. Richard was a long-time member of the Templeton Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for 26 years. He retired in 2002. Richard was founder of the Rescue Squad in Templeton and Chairman of the Communication Commission. Richard owned and operated Baldwinville Garage. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed building and racing stock cars. He was a member of Memorial Congregational Church. His greatest enjoyment came for spending time with his family and spending time at his garage with all of his friends. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Barbara A. (Lawrence) Paine; four children, Ursula Michel and her husband William of Dayton, NV., Martin Paine and his wife Vickie of Royalston, Kathy Bourassa and her husband Ken of Swanzey, NH and Richard S. Paine Jr. and his wife Molly of Baldwinville; a sister, Coralee (Paine) Barton of Zephyr Hills, FL.; ten grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Robert, Amanda, Marissa, Brad, Rebecca, Kayla, Brittany and Grey; a close family member, Willard White, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kim M. Paine. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27th at 10 A.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Stephanie Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Friday, December 26th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
