BALDWINVILLE – Richard T. Burdin, 65, of 279 Royalston Road, died peacefully Sunday morning, April 27th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Dyersburg, TN on December 27, 1948, son of the late Truman and Elina (Sillanpaa) Burdin and lived in for most of his life in Baldwinville, where he graduated from Narrangansett Regional High School.
Dick worked as a truck driver and also had done masonry work in the area. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving in both Vietnam and Germany. He was a member of American Legion Post 373 of Baldwinville.
Dick enjoyed playing music and he played the lead guitar and 5 string banjo as the leader of his own band. His bands had been known as Southbound, Northern Lights, Silver Star and Cherokee. His hobbies included woodworking and fishing.
He leaves a brother, Danny P. Burdin and his wife Jo-Anne of Baldwinville, a sister, Julie A. Crosby of Baldwinville, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6th at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
Calling hours in the funeral home, will be Monday, May 5th from 5 to 7 P.M.
