Rita D. (Brehio) White

March 23, 1915 — January 28, 2013

WINCHENDON - Rita D. (Brehio) White, 97, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, formerly of  Winchendon and New York City, died peacefully Monday morning, January 28th in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.

She was born in Winchendon on March 23, 1915, daughter of the late John and Rose ( Bastille) Brehio and graduated from Murdock High School in 1933.  She graduated from Beth Israel School of Nursing in Manhattan, NY and remained active in its alumni association.

Rita was a registered nurse and was supervisor of Nursing at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan until her retirement at the age of 70.  Following her retirement, she volunteered for many years at Queensborough Public Library in Astoria, NY.  In September, 2011, she returned to this area.  She was a member of Murdock Alumni Association and Winchendon Historical Society.

Her husband, William A. White Jr, died in 1965.  She leaves two children, William A. White III and his wife Tracey of Locust Valley, NY and Elizabeth W. Henrikson and her husband William of Leominster; three grandchildren, William A. White IV, Tracey Anne White and George M. White, all of Locust Valley and a sister, Betty Brehio of Winchendon, as well as many nephews and nieces.  The oldest of seven children, Rita was predeceased by her siblings, Lucille Kaiser, Anita Ladeau, John Brehio, Norma Kidder and Cyril Brehio,

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 2nd at 11:30 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Saturday, February 2nd from 10 to 11 A.M.

Memorial donations may be made to Winchendon Historical Society, 151 Front Street, Winchendon, MA or the Murdock High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, care of Richard J. “Jack” Ladeau, 230 High Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.  Donations may also be made to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, c/o Beth Israel Medical Center, Development Department, 555 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019.
