WINCHENDON – Robert C. Carter, 66, of 36 Tolman Road, Winchendon died Tuesday evening, October 30th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on August 11, 1946, the son of Robert S. Carter and Glenyss M. Helman) Carter Brooks and lived in Winchendon for most of his life and was a graduate of Murdock High School.
Bob owned and operated his own trucking business, Bob’s Express for several years and later worked as a crane operator and truck driver for Garbose Metal and worked as a detailer for Bill’s Used Cars in Baldwinville. He most recently worked part-time for RiteWay Transportation Company, driving a van for the elderly. Bob enjoyed attending racing events loved old and antique cars and attended many car shows.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Darlene F. (Sawyer) Carter; a son, Robert S. “Rob” Carter and his long-time companion, Vanessa L. Pennell of Winchendon; one daughter Brenda L. Wilder and her husband James of Winchendon; one brother, Steven Carter of CT; one sister, Nancy Gagnon and her husband Andre of Rindge, NH; five grandchildren, Krista Pennell, Jacob Carter, Brielle Heath, James Robert Wilder and Brynn Wilder as well as nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5th at 11:30 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, November 4th from 4 to 6 P.M.
