TEMPLETON - Robert F. "Bob" Johnson, Sr., 73, of 99 Bridge Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully Friday evening, February 19th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winchendon on August 2,1936, the son of the late John F. and Annabelle (Gilson) Johnson and had lived in Baldwinville for 15 years. Bob was a self-employed drywall contractor for many years until his retirement in 2006. He was a life member of Winchendon Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Sons of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and the United Parish. Bob was also a former member, Past President and Treasurer of the Winchendon Lions Club. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and playing cribbage. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and a true gentleman. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Bonnie C. (Cass) Johnson; three daughters, Robin J. Steinbring and her companion Al Vaillancourt of Winchendon, Susan A. Dionne and her husband Keith of Winchendon and Heather A. Gagnon and her husband Mark of Winchendon; one brother, John F. Johnson Jr of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Tammie LaRoche of Nashua, NH and Audrey Fischer of Cheyenne, WY; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. A son, Robert F. Johnson Jr, died in 2005. He was also predeceased by a brother, Terry Johnson and two sisters, Shirley Sylvester and Beverly Phelps. In accordance with Bob's wishes, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. His family wishes him to be remembered as a loving, fun, generous, good and honest man. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
