PHILLIPSTON – Robert J. Eaton, 80, of 9 Sibley Road, Winchendon, formerly of Phillipston and Orange, died peacefully Saturday evening, June 13th in Baldwinville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Baldwinville.
He was born in Gardner on April 2, 1935, son of the late Everett G and Geraldine (Truman) Eaton and attended Prospect Street School. He was a resident of Phillipston for many years before moving to Orange.
For many years, Robert attended Adult Day Care in Athol, where he was its first client and been there for the longest period of time. He enjoyed crafts, tag sales, making puzzles and was highly skilled at making model cars and airplanes. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and always had an autograph book within reach. Bob loved to color and his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family friends, especially his nieces and nephews.
He leaves four brothers, Kenneth Eaton of Virginia, Douglas Eaton of Fitchburg, Richard Eaton of Orange and David Eaton of Illinois; three sisters, Helen Babcock of South Boston, Marguerite Eaton of Brockton and Rosalie Tallman of Phillipston as well as several nephews, nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews. Two brothers, Everett Eaton and Roger Eaton, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19th at 2 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. His niece, the Rev. Jacquelyn Babcock of Grace and Hope Mission, York, PA., will officiate. A calling hour will precede the funeral Friday from 1 to 2 P.M..
Burial will be in Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner.
