WINCHENDON – Robert Smith Mable, 80, of 121 Ipswich Drive, died peacefully Monday afternoon, February 2nd in Edith Nourse Rogers VA Hospital, Bedford.
He was born in Colchester, VT on August 16, 1934, son of the late Ralph Smith and Mildred May (Bolio) Mable and had lived in Winchendon for many years.
Bob was a retired serviceman, who proudly served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. A proud veteran, Bob was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion, and a life member of Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW. Bob also was a member of Retired Armed Forces Association, Non Commissioned Officers Association and Disabled American Veterans. Bob was very active in community and veterans activities. His hobbies were farming and fishing.
His wife, Anne E. (Gormley) Mable, died in 2000. He leaves two children, Robert C. Mable and his wife Debra of Winchendon and Betty-Ann Mable of Winchendon; one brother, Roland A. Mable of Rutland, VT; a foster son Robert LeBlanc and his wife Cindy of Baldwinville and their two children Heather and Alan, six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Military funeral services will be held Monday, February 9th at 10 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
