Robert Walter Tenney

June 4, 1922 — July 21, 2006

WINCHENDON - Robert Walter Tenney, of 81 Baldwinville State Road, Winchendon died at his residence on Friday, July 21st. He was born on June 4th,1922, the youngest son of Guy W. and Alice E. (Kennett) Tenney. There were ten children in the family and all are deceased with the exception of Dr. Henry C. Tenney and Norma Maxine (Tenney) Driscoll, who are both residing at Broadview Assisted Living in Winchendon. After graduating from Murdock High School, class of 1941, and after having served with the United States Army Air Force as a registered nurse/medic at Lederman General Hospital in San Francisco, Robert made a career with the United States Park Police in Washington, DC and earned a degree at Maryland University. During his tenure in Washington, Robert made it a practice to personally guide the Murdock High School seniors around the city. Robert was active in the Murdock Alumni Association, having served as its president for three terms, most notably during Murdock's 100th Anniversary. He was a life-long member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and the Retired Police Officers Association. He had a passion and hobby of rescuing abused and stray animals and making them part of his family at the "Will `O The Wisp" gentleman's farm he owned and operated with his partner of thirty-eight years, Kenneth Broughton. In addition to his life-long partner, Robert leaves a dear friend and classmate, Shirley Farrar. There will be no calling hours, and after cremation, burial services will take place at Fitzwilliam Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
